How to Get to San Martín de los Andes

First of all, it’s important to mention that Buenos Aires has two international airports: Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP). Depending on where you arrive, you may need transportation to get from one airport to the other, as they are 40 km apart. One of the most commonly used options is Tienda León, a bus company that offers transfers between both airports for approximately $10,000 ARS per ticket (around 9,00 US$).

That said, there are three main options to reach San Martín de los Andes, which we describe below in order of highest to lowest convenience:

1. Flight to Chapelco (San Martín de los Andes Airport)

• Take a flight from Aeroparque or Ezeiza to San Martin de los Andes Airport, Aviador Carlos Campos Airport (CPC).
• From Chapelco, it’s about a 30-minute drive to San Martín de los Andes.
• Advantage: This is the most direct and fastest option.

2. Flight to Bariloche + Transfer to San Martín de los Andes

• Take a flight from Aeroparque or Ezeiza to Bariloche Airport.
• From Bariloche, coordinate a private transfer to San Martín de los Andes (approximately a 3-hour drive).
• Advantage: More frequent flight options compared to Chapelco.
• Disadvantage: Additional transfer cost and longer travel time.
• Note: If choosing this option with a private transfer, the journey itself becomes an excursion, as the scenery is stunning and highly enjoyable.

3. Flight to Bariloche + Bus to San Martín de los Andes

• Take a flight from Aeroparque or Ezeiza to Bariloche Airport.
• From the airport, take a taxi to the Bariloche bus terminal (about a 30-minute drive).
• Take a direct bus to San Martín de los Andes (non-stop).
• Disadvantage: In March, there are very few bus departures, making this option less convenient and comfortable.

4. Flight to Neuquén + Bus to San Martín de los Andes

• Take a flight from Aeroparque or Ezeiza to Neuquén Airport.
• From Neuquén, take a bus to San Martín de los Andes (approximately a 6-hour journey).
• Disadvantage: This is the least convenient option due to the long bus ride.
